How can I speed up access to NetBank on my computer?

Installing the latest web browsers and Java Virtual Machines available for your operating system can improve NetBank access speed. A Java Virtual Machine is software that allows your computer to run certain Java applications. We also recommend that you install the latest updates and service packs for your operating system and web browser.

The speed of NetBank is also dependent upon a number of factors outside of the control of the Bank, including:

  • The speed of your computer processor
  • The amount of memory you have installed in your computer
  • The speed, quality and reliability of your internet connection

You will need to make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements and your browser settings are correct.

If you use Windows and Internet Explorer we recommend you upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 (this link will open a new window to take you to the selected site).

If you normally access the internet through a proxy server and cannot access NetBank, try disabling your proxy connection.

If you are still experiencing difficulty accessing NetBank, check you have the following updates installed for your operating system:

We recommend you install

Windows VISTA

Why is my font size so small/large?

Why do the navigation tabs within NetBank (i.e. home, accounts, transfers, bills, apply, services, security, and my info) appear to be so large or small?

This could relate to the Dots Per Inch (DPI) setting on your computer. The normal DPI setting is 96 DPI.

If you are using Windows XP the best way to check your DPI setting is as follows:

  • Open the ‘Display’ icon in your control panel
  • On the ‘Settings’ tab, click ‘Advanced’
  • On the ‘General’ tab, in the DPI setting list, click the DPI setting you want to use

If you are using Windows Vista the best way to check your DPI setting is as follows:

  • Open the ‘Personalisation’ icon in your control panel
  • Go to the ‘Settings’ tab
  • Select ‘Adjust font size (DPI)’ from the ‘Tasks’ menu, in the DPI setting list; click the DPI setting you want to use

What happens to my NetBank session when I am accessing the Commonwealth Awards website?

Your NetBank session will remain open in your previous browser window, while the Commonwealth Awards website will automatically open in a new browser window. The Commonwealth Awards website is secure. Any data transmitted during your awards session will be encrypted.

Your NetBank session will be subject to a time out period of inactivity, after which it will be automatically shut down. This ensures the security of your NetBank session is maintained at all times. Why do I receive a security warning saying 'This page contains secure and unsecure information' when I try to access NetBank?

The security warning that you receive when attempting to access NetBank is a result of the browser, operating system and security setting combination you have on your PC.

The unsecured items that this message is warning you about are graphics. Your security will not be compromised in any way if you allow the unsecure items within the NetBank pages to be downloaded. The main reason we have not secured these items is to increase access speed to NetBank.
